According to statistics by the Federal Migration Service, in 2007 the FMS collected 4.5 billion rubles in fines from employers using illegal labor immigrants. Altogether during the last year over 160 000 employers had to bear administrative liability for using illegal labor.

The head of the FMS reminded that prior to introduction of the new migration legislation, an employer’s fine for the use of any number of illegal workers equaled 8 000 rubles. In 2007, after the new law came into power, the businessmen are obligated to pay approximately 90 000 rubles for every illegal worker.
