70 Percent Of Tax Inspections Result In Criminal Suits

70 percent of tax inspections are ending in criminal suits. The remaining 30 percent voluntarily recalculate their taxes rather than take the matter to court. While the government is attempting to free companies from excessive inspections, investigations are increasing in the Moscow Region; the Bureau of Tax Crimes has conducted 1.5 times more inspections this year in comparison with the same period last year. In the first half of 2007, the tax police conducted 640 inspections. This year that number rose to 969. Out of these, 648 resulted in criminal cases.
