On July 22 a new decree will take effect, which will allow border patrol agents to extend visas for up to three days.

 
Visas can be extended only on the basis of an application by the visa holder. The application is only made available when conditions have made it impossible for the applicant to leave the country.

The decree, called “On Confirming Border Control’s Instructions For Extending and Revoking Visas at Checkpoints of the Russian Federation” was issued by the Federal Security Service of Russia.
