Chief Of Russia President’s Office Plans To Cut Outlays And Personnel

Head of the Kremlin office Sergei Naryshkin instructed to submit proposals by March 2 on cutting expenses and number of staff members of the presidential office, said on Tuesday presidential press secretary Natalya Timakova.
“In compliance with the president’s directive which he gave at a meeting with the leadership of the Federation Council last week, the head of the presidential office, signed two instructions,” Timakova reported.
“The first of them instructs the president’s aide Arkady Dvorkovich together with the president’s business department, the state-legal department and the department for personnel and state decorations to make proposals by March 1, to cut expenses under the budget estimate of the presidential office for 2009 and for the planned period of 2010-2011,” she explained.
The second instruction deals with cutting the staff establishment of the presidential office. “Besides, the department of personnel and state decorations as well as offices of political representatives in federal districts are to submit proposals by March 1 on cutting their personnel by 100 people,” she added.
The press secretary reported that 1,500 people now work at the president’s central office.
The president noted, “The situation in the economy is not simple”; this also concerns the budget. “We should think also of saving state expenses at all levels,” he said.
