The Ministry of Finance reported that the volume of auditing services increased by 21.3 percent in 2007, in comparison to 2006, totaling 41.7 billion rubles.
The main reasons for the growth are the rising prices for auditing services, driven by increasing demand from a widening client base, and rising costs for skilled labor.
As a whole across the country, auditing checks make up 44 percent of auditing activities.
In the South, the Volga Federal District and the Far East, the portion of auditing services devoted to auditing checks exceeds 60 percent. In the Central District (not including Moscow) and the Ural District, it consists of 57 percent. In the Siberia Federal District it consists of 54 percent, and in the North-West – 48 percent.
General auditing services account for 91.1 percent of auditing activities, bank auditing 6.4 percent, auditing of stock exchanges 1.4 percent, and auditing of insurers 1.1 percent. In all federal districts, including the Central District (but excluding Moscow), general auditing services account for 94-98 percent of auditing activity. The present auditing procedure has been observed over the last few years.
17 percent of auditing organizations’ business activity consists of providing accounting services. Large auditing companies get twice as much accounting business as small and mid-sized organizations.
Of those auditing organizations that are currently doing business, 35.7 percent are located in Moscow, 8.3 in St. Petersburg, and 56 percent in other regions. In 2007, auditing organizations located in Moscow were responsible for almost 74 percent of the total volume of auditing activity. That’s almost 12 times more than in St. Petersburg, and four times more than in all other regions total. That correlation has been maintained for the last several years.
