The State Duma is discussing a legislation initiative proposing obligatory medical insurance for all foreigners and stateless persons entering Russia.

Deputes have stated that this will assist in resolving two problems. The first is related to Russia’s national security due to the fact that immigrants may bring infectious diseases into the country. The second problem is humanitarian: people requiring medical care must obtain it regardless of amount of money they posses.

Recently a work group created by a committee held a meeting where deputes considered appropriate law drafts.
