Duma Votes ‘Yes’ On Simplified Procedures For Obtaining Citizenship

According to the draft bill approved by Duma in first reading, Russian citizenship may be obtained through a simplified procedure (without necessary 5 years uninterrupted residence in Russia and residence permit) by foreign citizens and stateless persons with children who are citizens of the RF and fully or partially disabled.
The draft would also change temporary residence quotas, excluding parents of children who hold Russian citizenship from them, and also to excluding persons under 18 years of age who apply for temporary residence with with their parents (including, foster or adopted parents).
