Full FMS and FSKN Liquidation Postponed To Summer, 2018
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has pronounced that the deadline for the liquidation of the Federal Migration Service (FMS) and the Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN) extended until July 1, 2018.
Despite the fact that the FMS has, since April 2016, been reorganized into the General Administration for Migration Issues under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, its liquidation is still incomplete. Therefore, the new administration can still certify documents and issue passports with FMS stamps, use forms with FMS emblems, and operate under FMS regulations that have not officially lost force, among other things.
The corresponding document is called "To extend until July 1, 2018 the deadline for the completion of liquidation measures for the abolition of the Federal Migration Service of Russia and the Federal Drug Control Service of Russia, as established by the Russian governmental order of June 30, 2017 No. 1412-r."
