Russian And European Experts Discuss Registration Procedures

 20.12.07
At the first meeting of the Russian-EU visa dialog to be held in Moscow, experts discussed registration procedures for foreigners in Russia, announced in a press-release from the office of the European Commission.
The agenda of the two-day meetings included topics of registration procedures as well as document security and use of biometrics. The specific results of the discussions were not announced.
The European Commission believes that “these discussions will become yet another step towards improving the mutual understanding between the European Union and the Russian Federation.”
Since June 1, 2007, a visa-facilitation agreement has been in force between Russian and EU. It significantly simplified the procedures for short-term visas (up to 90 days) for number of categories of Russian citizens and residents of EU, including businessmen, journalists, people working in the fields of science and culture, sportsmen, students, and teachers, as well as close relatives of residents of EU and Russia.
