FAS Plans to Publish New Rules Regarding Advertising Infringements by Mid-June

01.06.07 The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) will take action against any and all infringements. The FAS is strict in its adherence to the law, even when infringements are obviously mistakes that the infringer is prepared to correct. This process is very labor consuming but at the very least assists in minimizing corruption.
For example, the FAS stated that in regard to advertising companies must be extremely careful in their accuracy. Previously if the FAS would catch an inaccuracy in a company’s advertising, the company would be given the opportunity to explain or prove itself before having to remove all advertising. But soon it will not be so easy, the FAS warns.
Experts are certain that if officials are ordered to write out more penalties they will easily execute the assignment, but bringing these matters to court without allowing prior explanations by the penalized companies will lead to a rise in losses in court by the FAS. Earlier it was possible to explain a position after the notice, now it is necessary to defend it in court.
