Federal Migration Service To Begin Conducting More Frequent Inspections

26.08.09 The FMS will soon be able to inspect companies more often than once every three years.
Currently, the FMS is required to notify companies well in advance of an impending inspection. The provision under consideration is contained in the Federal Law “In Defense of Corporations’ and Individual Businesses’ Rights during Government and Municipal Inspections.”
The FMS is also required to coordinate any unscheduled visits with the Office of Public Prosecutor. Under the current legislation, inspections may be carried out only once within a three year time period. However, the same federal law on the protection of private businesses allows the FMS to develop additional government regulations that modify the basis for inspections and the frequency with which they can be carried out. The FMS has already made use of the new law and the document in question is in the process of passing through the necessary finalization procedure.
