On September 12, Russia’s Federal Migration Service (FMS) started an experimental program to allow hotels to directly register visas.

“On Friday an experimental procedure will be conducted in Moscow’s five largest hotels,” - announced the press secretary for the FMS's Moscow Department in a statement to Interfax.

She also explained that “hotels will conduct migration registration themselves for foreigners” (in accordance to recently adopted changes to the law “On Migration Registration of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Russian Federation”).

The press secretary pointed out that in the future migration registration of foreigners will become available in other hotels as well.
