According to the results of a study by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM), lawyers in the Russia appear to be the most professionally satisfied, with an average rating of 80 on the poll's "satisfaction index" as of December 2008. This rating compares with 62.3 in August.

The professional satisfaction index is designed as a scale with values ranging from +100 to -100. In the scale, +100 indicates a maximum level of satisfaction with a profession and -100 indicates complete dissatisfaction.

Bankers, programmers, and IT experts ranked alongside lawyers in the top third of the indices with 75, 74, and 74 points, respectively. As of the December 2008 rating, those least satisfied with their profession were street cleaners (-29.9) and freight handlers (-14.5).
