Medvedev Signed Law Limiting Government Powers In Business Inspections
 26.01.09
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev endorsed a federal law that will restrict governmental power to investigate business owners, including limiting officers’ rights to break procedural rules.
The law also fine-tunes procedures for witholding documents during investigative activities and judicial proceedings during administrative violations cases. Changes would be introduced to federal laws “On the Militia” and “On Investigative Activities,” as well as to the Administrative Violations Code.
Law enforcement agencies are prohibited from making decisions to conduct tax inspections. They may participate in audits/inspections only by the request of tax authorities and in accordance with tax legislation.
