Medvedev Urges To Create Modern Patenting System In Russia

 13.02.09
Russian science is in urgent need of “an efficient system of the introduction of new ideas and innovations, the so-called commercialisation system,” Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said at a ceremony of handing in of the presidential awards in the sphere of research and innovation to young scientists for 2008.
The head of state admitted that the state of affairs with the system of scientific commercialisation in Russia “is still just bad, frankly.” “There are plenty of ideas, there are many brilliant ideas, but with this (the commercialisation system) it is difficult,” Medvedev stressed. “So we must create a normal, modern well-adjusted system of patenting with the solid regulatory framework and modern regime of protection of intellectual property and author’s rights. This is very important for all young researchers whose studies will serve the new Russia,” the president said.
