Moscow Authorities Plan To Help Small Businesses In Time Of Crisis

In this year of crisis, the Moscow City Government has promised to lend maximum help to small and mid-sized businesses. Moscow Law # 60 from November 26, 2008 “On the Support and Development of Small and Mid-Sized Businesses in Moscow” already came into force. Small enterprises have been promised preferential terms for lease of land and real estate. According to Mayor Yury Luzhkov, the city government has already minimized rental rates for small business and are prepared to lease out facilities at a rate of 1300 rubles per sq. meter.
Officials promise subsidies for small and mid-sized enterprises as well as government guarantees for credit. The Small Business Credit Assistance Fund has already issued approximately 1,500 such guarantees allowing small companies to borrow 5 billion rubles.
The government promises to organize seminars and trainings for small business representatives, and provide free consultations in person or by phone.
