One-Fifth Of Russians Disagree With The “Black Wages”

 26.02.09
21% of Russians are not ready to accept under-the-table salaries. 60% of Russians would accept them and the rest are undecided according poll released on February 5 from the Superjob.ru Research Center. According to the Russian business daily Vedomosti, 2,500 workers participated in the study, which has been conducted for more than 18 years throughout Russia.
Results from a similar poll a year and a half ago, Superjob.ru reported that 28% of Russians were against the “black wage,” as fully under-the-table payments are known in Russia, while 55% would readily accept them.
In the 2009 poll, the majority of respondents justified their position on the belief that, during the crisis, the form their wages take does not matter. The main thing is that the wages are paid. “We need money to feed our families,” respondents declared. The authors of the study noted that, as a rule, bread-winning men are more agreeable to receiving wages under-the-table than women (64% for men as opposed to 55% for women).
The percent of people ready to accept “black wages” is higher among older respondents (50 years and older – 28%) and among higher paid Russians (individuals with monthly incomes over 45,000 rubles – 27%).
