“One Day Firms” And Stolen Information

 02.10.08
Office #46 of the Moscow Department of the Federal Tax Service has received about 4,500 complaints in the last two years that companies have illegally registered using private passport data without the passport holder's permission. According to the Federal Tax Service, between one hundred and one thousand “one day” companies were registered in this manner. All together, there are 180 thousand "one day" companies on record.
The department also named two other popular schemes for "one day" firm registration. First, addresses of state institutions are often used for registration purposes. Tax officers cited the Moscow Museum of Modern Art as an example of an address some companies have targeted.
Also, one day firms have been founded illegally using the addresses of other firms. For instance, in one of Moscow’s business centers, only twelve organizations officially rent space there. However, eight thousand companies are registered under the name and address of the center.
