The Presidential Library in St. Petersburg is scheduled to be opened on May 27, Kremlin property manager Vladimir Kozhin said.
"All major works have been completed there. Finishing work and installation of electronic equipment is under way now," he said, adding that the financing of this project had not been reduced because of the crisis.
"In creating the library Russia cooperates with many world centres ... I have studied the experience of the U.S. Congress Library, the Mitterand Centre and the Bundestag Library. Just recently, a large group of congressmen familiarised themselves with the work of our Presidential Library," the official said.
"A set of unique multimedia equipment and the most advanced technologies are used in the library," Kozhin said.
"The historical appearance of the Synod has been restored, including the room where the Holy Synod used to meet," 'he said.
Vladimir Putin, who was president at that time, signed an order on the creation of the Presidential Library in February 2007. In April of the same year, the head of state suggested naming the library after Russia's first President Boris Yeltsin.
The presidential library is expected to revive the library business in the country and become a coordinating centre for libraries in Russia.
Subsequently, regional libraries will be reorganised into regional branches of the Presidential Library connected by a single information network and having unified methodological programmes and software.
Speaking of the Senate building in St. Petersburg also repaired by the Kremlin Property management department, Kozhin said it was in excellent condition.
"Having preserved the historical appearance of the building we have installed new utility systems, including energy-saving ones. The only thing that is missing there is paintings. But we have already ordered copies of world masterpieces," Kozhin said.
The Senate building has been renovated for the Constitutional Court that has moved to St. Petersburg from Moscow.
