Moscow firms will be able to complete the entire work permit application process for their foreign employees all in one place, beginning August 2. This is the effective date for decree No. 284 from the Federal Migration Service in Moscow, dated June 20, 2006, which simplifies the permit application procedure. Employers no longer have to appear before the Federal Labor and Employment Service to obtain permission to employ foreign workers nor must they obtain work permits for each foreign employee. Instead, the Federal Migration Service can simply authorize the employer to hire foreign employees. Officials promise that the whole procedure will take no more then 35 days.
