In a plenary session, the Federation Council approved the federal law “On Submitting Changes to the Federal Law ‘Regarding the Registration of Foreign Citizens and Those without Citizenship in the Russian Federation.’” It will now be considered by the legislative organs.

The law establishes exact time periods in which a foreign citizen is obligated to undertake the necessary actions for arranging their registration at their place of temporary stay or residence.

Notification of their arrival should be presented by the foreign citizen or the party that issued their invitation within seven business days. Those who receive temporary or permanent residency must register within three days.

The seven days for those who receive temporary or permanent residency begins from the day they receive the related permit OR from the date they arrive at their residence.
