“Superfluous” Social Protection May Be Removed From The Labor Code

The Ministry of Public Health and Social Development wants to amend the Labor Code to strip it of “superfluous” social protections, such as “exceedingly long vacations” and, possibly, paid vacation time for educational purposes. They say that this is currently placing unnecessary limitations on businesses. Alexander Safonov, deputy head of the ministry explained that social insurance charges may also be changed.
These measures are planned increase labor efficiency and minimize an impending deficit of qualified labor that is forecast to reach 20 million by 2020.
