The government of the Russian Federation has approved a quota of 140,790 for temporary residence permits to be issued in 2008. The same quota for 2007 was 52,723. The massive jump may be, in part, to allow for the increased requests for such permits due to stricter visa requirements passed enacted earlier this year.
