Tens Of Thousands Of Companies Will Have To Change Their Names
17.01.08 Chapter IV of the Civil Code (CC) of the RF came into force in January 2008. Its regulations mean tens of thousands of companies will have to change their names.
Article 1473 of the new chapter prohibits using official names of states (Russian and foreign) in business names. The word “Russia” and “Russian” may appear in the names of only those companies over 75% government-owned.
Also, Chapter IV of the CC now forbids companies in the same industry from using the same name.
