Vacancies Increase In March

14.04.09 Fundamental improvement in the situation is still far off.
After a reduction of approximately 40% in the number of orders to recruiting companies from October 2008 to March (according to Vedomosti on March 20, 2009), some large staffing companies surveyed by Vedomosti noted an influx of orders for the selection of experts. Orders at Kelly Services increased by about 10% in March; 14% at Staff Empire; 15% at Antal; and 60% at Morgan Hunt Selection. Since the beginning of the year, the number of orders at Exclusive Personnel has increased five times. According to managers of these companies, growth has occurred due to orders from pharmaceutical, telecommunication, and insurance companies.
The All-Russian Base of Civil Service Vacancies, known as "Work in Russia," has grown by 18.6% (169,088 announcements) up to 909,822 vacancies since the middle of January.
According to a February All-Russian poll conducted by the company Anchor, half of respondents (49%) do not plan for staff reductions in 2009. From the 18% who do plan for such reductions, the majority (15%) wish to make them prior to the beginning of April, once the worst is over.
