Visas Are More Expensive
 26.12.07
The application fee for non-immigrant U.S. visa will rise from $100 to $131 starting January 1, 2008.
After the implementation of new information technology systems and new security procedures, and also in consequence of inflation, the actual cost of processing visas exceeded $100 even in 2004. The difference was compensated by the Department of State. “Now, since fingerprinting became an obligatory procedure for visa application, the cost charged by the FBI to review the fingerprints no longer allows the Department of State to cover the cost of the visa application procedures,” explained the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.
Russia has, by its rule of reciprocity, raised the minimum charge for Russian visas issued to Americans to $131 as well.
